We all want to believe that deep within our souls there is a very special reason we are here, that we have something valuable to contribute to the world, that we have a special purpose, that we are special somehow. We also have a sense for the kind of life we’d like to live and a desire to find the right kind of work which suits our talents and aspirations.
Yet, for far too many people, those inner promptings and ardent hopes have become detoured by the frustrations and lost opportunities associated with daily living. Many people have given up on what they thought they could be. Millions have settled for ordinariness. Millions more hold onto their dreams but fail to take the necessary steps to make those dreams real. And millions more choose drug use to induce experiences that are qualitatively different from those of ordinary consciousness.
In this blogcast we invite people to stop majoring in minor things. By that we mean far too many bright, conscientious, talented people get so caught up in material comforts, ego pursuits, and the drug route that they neglect the one thing that will make them healthy, happy, and whole: connecting with their Core Essence, the deeper part of them that is the seat of their higher functioning, their phenomenal abilities, their incredible uniqueness, their realized potential! Your Core Essence is the Potential You, the Divine You waiting to be released!
Life is filled with choices! We know no matter where you are in life, you want more of the things that you believe will make you happy, healthy, productive, and fulfilled. It doesn’t matter how well you are already doing, or aren’t; how prosperous you already are, or not; how professionally fulfilled you are, or not; how financially stable you are, or aren’t – you have the choice of making the all important connection with your Divine Nature from either a supernatural (drug-enhanced) perspective or from a super natural (non-drug induced) perspective.
“Know thyself” is an ancient Greek aphorism that was inscribed in the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. It has been used throughout history as an injunction for all of us to take getting to know ourselves seriously. There are a growing number of people who have taken the injunction seriously and have achieved ‘natural highs’ through meditation, prayer, positive affirmations, exercise, visualizations, dreams, metaphysical studies, and music.
We believe that when each of us gets us right our world will be right. The us, of course is the Extraordinary Us, the us that is aligned with our Core Essence, the us that is divine. We also believe the ‘right us’ cannot be accessed through the misuse of hallucinogenic and psychedelic drugs.
We can categorically tell you from our personal experience and from a thorough investigation of the last fifty years of human potential research that when your “ordinary self” (the everyday you) is aligned with your Core Essence (the Extraordinary You) you can meet any human challenge with grace and poise without the side effects associated with drugs. You can achieve things you thought were impossible. You can most assuredly find the happiness, joy, prosperity, and sense of inner peace you seek.
Swiss psychologist Carl Jung describes people who sell themselves short, who fail to see their natural uniqueness and worthiness in the following way: People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own souls. They will practice yoga … observe a strict regimen of diet, learn theosophy by heart, or mechanically repeat mystic texts … all because they cannot get on with themselves and have not the slightest faith that anything useful could ever come out of their own lives.
We would add drug induced states of consciousness to Jung’s absurdity reference. Natural highs come without side effects. That’s the route to your divinity that we propose.
Drugs such as psychedelics, dissociatives, and deliriants have a long history of use within medicinal and religious traditions around the world. They are used in shamanic forms of ritual healing and divination, initiation rites, and simply for personal counterfeit highs.
We’re not going to belabor the detrimental side effects of unwise drug use, but we do want to mention some of the more common health problems associated with their use. Some common side effects of psychedelic drugs are liver damage, addiction, cardiac arrest, anaphylactic shock, hallucinations, increased body temperature, sweating, blurred vision, high blood pressure, nausea, and last but not least death (what a bummer, right).
Here’s the thing: to align ourselves with our divine nature requires – no, demands – a naturalness, an authentegrity, and a smidgeon of uncommon sense that honors the built-in connection that is already there between our human selves and our innate Divine Nature.
- get ‘high’ on meditation.
- Become addicted to positive affirmations and affirmative prayer.
- Make meditation your natural method of choice to the Extraordinary You.
- Prescribe to visualizations and dreams.
- Make spiritual and metaphysical studies a habit.
Refrain from counterfeit paths and drug-induced supernatural shortcuts to oblivion. Instead choose the ‘super natural’ path to enlightenment. ‘Super natural’ highs may take a little longer, but they come without side effects and ensure the perfect alignment between your human self and your Divine nature.About the authors: In addition to their work with The Metaphysical Website, Revs. Drs.
